Microblading is a type of permanent makeup that uses fine, hand-tinted strokes of needles to create the appearance of hair-like strokes. It is like eyebrow or therapy tattooing, as it’s sometimes called, but instead of needles, a skinny strip with pigment on one edge and no pigment on the other is used.

What Makes Microblading Different From Eyebrow Tattooing?

  • Microblading differs from eyebrow tattoos in some fundamental ways. The pigment for Microblading doesn’t go through the skin into the dermis – it only goes into the epidermis. It means there are minimal risks associated with leaving a scar and infection. Microblading doesn’t use an ink-based pigment and therefore doesn’t leave behind any ink.
  • Microblading requires a much smaller machine, making it faster and more precise.
  • Nowadays, most Microblading techniques are done with a fine hand-tinted needle thinner than eyebrow tattoo needles. However, some types are done with very thin metal stamping needles; this technique is called Stippling.

How Long Do Microbladed Eyebrows Take To Heal?

How long microblading takes to heal depends on how deep the machine goes, how much pigment is applied, and how heavily pigmented the strokes of pigment are. The deeper the strokes of pigment, the longer it takes to heal. The pigment effect will last anywhere from a year to several years, depending on how heavily and deeply you make the pigment strokes.

Procedure of Microblading

The procedure involves the artist using a microblading pen to make many small strokes of pigment-coated pigment onto the skin with a hand-held fine needle. The artist starts from the inner corner of the eye and moves outwards. The thickness of the pigment stroke directly impacts how long it takes to heal; the thinner the pigment stroke, the longer it takes to heal.

How To Get Good Results After A Microblading Procedure

  1. For the first 24 hours after a microblading procedure, do not touch your eyebrows or put them under any strain. After the first 48 hours, you may start washing your face, but avoid touching your new eyebrows. Make sure you take some precautions, like wearing a hat or using an umbrella when out in the sun, and always use high SPF sunscreen cream.
  2. Ice is one of the most effective ways to lessen post-microblading redness and swelling and generally speed up healing time. Make sure to wrap ice in a towel before applying it on your face so that you don’t end up burning yourself, and take it off after 15 minutes. The more often you ice, the better.

Even though microblading is a superior technique for permanent makeup, it is still a very delicate procedure. It requires skill and experience to get good results. However, if you go to a professional Microblading artist with all the necessary equipment, you can enjoy your new brows much longer.
